The Rocky Linux and AlmaLinux projects came forward to take the place of centos to provide open RHEL compatible binary distributions.

I tried out CentOS Stream when it first released, and I must say I'm pleased with it so far.

Despite the implication of "stream", unlike Fedora Rawhide "stream" is versioned. So "Stream 8" will die too, now "Stream 9" is out.
