I watched every episode of this and craved for more after it was done.

I can still see the skin peeling scene (which revealed the lizard person underneath) as clear as day.

Is this where the lizardman theory came from?

It is pretty funny how very similar Icke's reptilian fantasies are with the plot of V.

I was scared by V as a child in the 80s. A few years ago watched it with the SO, she loved it. It's hilarious how the entity who looks most like a lizard in the whole thing is our hero, played by Marc Singer.

Interestingly, the plot was based on It Can't Happen Here, "a 1935 dystopian political novel by American author Sinclair Lewis. It describes the rise of a US dictator similar to how Adolf Hitler gained power." "director–producer Kenneth Johnson wrote an adaptation titled Storm Warnings in 1982. The script was presented to NBC for production as a television miniseries, but the NBC executives rejected the initial version, claiming it was too "cerebral" for the average American viewer. To make the script more marketable, the American fascists were recast as man-eating extraterrestrials in order to capitalize on the popularity of franchises such as Star Wars".

"Land of the Lost" had their "sleestacks" before that; i bet there's other identifiable references before that. Then of course some number of supernatural entities are described in broadly similar terms too.

The only logical conclusion is that they've been among us since before written history.

It came from conspiracy theorist David Icke, although based on various fictional and mythological sources[0].

Fans of V might enjoy the novel Childhood's End by Arthur C Clarke.
