Ask HN: Why don’t companies build a browser app to get around Apple 30%
1 point by kristo 2 years ago | 3 commentsCompanies like Spotify, Twitter and others could get together and build a browser app that provides Native API access using Capacitor JS. They let their own apps be deployed with it. No need to pay the Apple Tax because it’s a browser, just like Chrome.
- austin-cheney 2 years agoI wasn’t aware of capacitorjs.
I will look at using that as a means to bring my Node based OS to IPhone and then problem solved.
- Ro_Khameshra 2 years agoI think the biggest blocker is the distribution cost of it, the unit economics may not match the thought to build it themselves
- kristo 2 years agoCurious what you mean? Like the cost to build the app itself?
