Ask HN: How have you started recently using AI in your personal or work life?

Over the past months, while reading interesting stories on automated text and image generation, I've been feeling a small amount of FOMO about not yet taking advantage of any of it. I'm a Project Manager on software projects (mostly front and backend related) and feel that I could be improving my life or my team's but I'm wasting this opportunity. Any ideas that the community feels are worth looking into? Merry Christmas to all that celebrate it!

I find chat gpt very helpful, way more so than Google for brainstorming and summarizing broad questions. And it's a lot of fun! It's a better writer than almost all of the humans I've met or read, including some professional authors. At work I'll sometimes ask it for algorithmic help too.

Dall E is endlessly amusing and a way better artist than I could ever hope to be.

That said, if it all went away tomorrow, it's be fine with me. As someone who always believed this stuff was inevitable, I'm glad to see it happen, excited about the future, but also not terribly attached to any of it. At the end of the day you get a computer system that's like having a bunch of really smart friends. That's cool, but there have always been greater intelligences that we already don't take full advantage of, whether that's asking a coworker for help or putting the best and brightest in places of power (instead of the conniving and ruthless).

If the AIs ever took my job, I'd be happy for them and move onto something else. Less screen time would be wonderful.

No, and most likely I'll never use it. To me, the technology is just some cute demos with zero substance.

That's most of the web, lol. The AI output may not be better than the best human output, but it's way better than average. Mediocre AI is already leagues ahead of the average human.

I started to query CHATGPT for code snippets as an alternate idea platform.
