Ask HN: Terminal App for macOS in 2024
2 points by luigi23 1 year ago | 7 commentsI’m trying to decide on a terminal app for my MacOS, mainly between iTerm2 and Warp. Any thoughts? I’m open to other suggestions too. Thanks!
- divan 1 year agoWarp is amazing if you're ok with closed-source and mandatory Github login. Surprisingly, one of the features I use a lot is built-in AI assistant. Became a habit to just type in a sidebar of the terminal stuff like "how do I sort files by date in ls" or "how to resize video with ffmpeg" and execute it directly in the terminal.
- syndicatedjelly 1 year agoAm I missing much by just using the MacOS-provided Terminal?
- michaelteter 1 year agoI've been happy with WezTerm - https://wezfurlong.org/wezterm/index.html
- ja27 1 year agoI need to give Warp an honest try but it's still iTerm2 by default for me, with occasional launches of cool-retro-term or kitty, plus the VSCode terminal.
- smoldesu 1 year agoiTerm 2 is a shoo-in, for me. It's open source and will please all but the most stalwart Mac purists. Warp never sold it's value prop to me.
- aniix 1 year agoI use Kitty and iTerm.
- interbased 1 year agoiTerm2 is my current default. I also use Oh My Zsh for Zsh configuration.
