I am currently facing a challenge in obtaining documentation through an open records request from the State Attorney General for a human resources investigation. I have reached a point where I likely need a lawyer to lay out a case for the records. I would prefer to obtain the human resources investigation via open records rather than having to resort to legal action.

Has anyone come across AI legal services that can aid in drafting and submitting open records requests or dealing with legal processes? I'm exploring the possibility of leveraging AI to assist in navigating bureaucratic hurdles. I was slightly inspired by everybody's favorite lawyer Michael Cohen: https://www.npr.org/2023/12/30/1222273745/michael-cohen-ai-fake-legal-cases.

I am not interested in using this for malicious intentions. However, speaking very generally, I'm guessing that battling with open requests should follow a general template.

Moreover, if there are lawyers out there interested in collaborating on an AI lawyer-based application, I am open to discussing side projects. Creating a tool that can streamline and enhance the legal process, especially in dealing with bureaucratic resistance, could be a valuable endeavor.

    I got a speeding ticket and tried to request body cam footage (from 4 officers) and they wouldn't give them to me because it was an open case.

    In those videos they threatened me with more charges because I asked a simple question... (Atlanta, GA)

      In the short time I have doing open records requests, presistence is key.

      Usually, first, you have to fail or get some information. Then you send another request. Then another, and you start to drill down. I have also inadvertently received unredacted information, which led me to more requests. I have 5 records requests with Colorado, on the 5th request, someone picked up the phone and helped me solve a problem.

      In my particular case, I set out to fight the government. My purpose was specifically if I am having issues with the government services then people with less resources and time are even more disadvantaged than myself. So I'm fighting the battle for them and my civic duty... It's also why I wear black (Johnny Cash reference.)

      If it's cops harrassing you then, I'm willing to bet they are doing it to others as well.

      The beauty of chapGPT is it can write emails for you with little effort on your part.
