    Sad that learning to code seems to be always associated with getting a job in software development.

    Learning to code is useful for every job. Or even for privat matters or hobbies it can be helpful. It’s a good training for problem solving. Coding can even be like solving a puzzle and you could just do it because you like to puzzle.

      The main reason I have been teaching my kid coding is the because Tech Industry needed cheap labor and I figured “hey, my kid is going to work hard so they can work in a cubicle for Tech Industry.” I base all my decisions about education of my kid on what Tech Industry needs so this really blows…

        Learning to code is not the objective. Code is an ancillary concern. The goal is to teach discrete math which is missing from K12 curriculum.

            Was the shortage “magically filled” in 4-5 years?
