Forcing master to main was a good faith exploit

Oh man I remember when GitHub did the switch, for about 2 weeks I couldn’t figure out why my Actions workflows weren’t running on a new repo. I had copy/pasted the workflows from another repo and they were targeting the “master” branch but the new repo was using “main”.

I love these ridiculous articles that this guy writes as if he is telling very important things.

Would you rather your ears be isolated from hearing differing opinions?

DHH's entire personal brand is about sharing his awful, scornful, combative takes with the world whenever he has an incendiary thought. Has been for a long, long time.

Sorry, what's the exploit here? What harm was done to the author?

Have you seen the list of offensive words he linked to. The guidance says not to use the word brown bags to refer to a lunch meeting because black people discriminated against each other using brown paper bags 50 years ago. It's overreaching and thought policing to the max.

None. The author is just angry at the dang liberals.

Language evolve. You don't seem to. Grow up.

Telling someone to "grow up" is ageist and dehumanizes little people. Being large or "mature" is normative. Implying that someone needs to "evolve" implies that simpler life forms are less valuable. You really should check your privilege and stop committing microagressions.

Completely sane take on a hugely impactful threat to our current way of life. I would expect nothing less from DHH.

How is this hugely impactful, and how is it a threat?

That list is baffling, and I still think Master should have been renamed to Trunk instead.

The me of a couple of years ago would probably have made some snarky comment about how DHH is complaining too much about some random list some one made and nobody uses but the last couple of years have shown me how quickly the turbo-woke (not to be confused with regular wokes) can turn fringe standards into mandatory guidelines.

I don't think anyone will ever get fired or reprimanded for using black list but you can't say never anymore.

Well, I think it should be painted blue.
