... how is that an example of perverse incentive? It did cause annoyance in the community, but has the popularity of open source declined? Are less people engaged since then? Or do we see less contributions?
Maybe so, but the paragraph doesn't even make a smallest claim about that.
- echoangle 1 year agoWell the point of promising the shirts was helping open source projects, but the incentive caused people to make bad pull requests, and actually caused unnecessary work for maintainers. So the incentive which was supposed to help open source projects actually harmed them. Isn’t that a good example of perverse incentives?
