There nothing in this article saying he’s in court for cloning animals:

“Using biological tissue obtained from a hunter who killed a wild sheep in Kyrgyzstan belonging to the world’s largest species of the animals — Marco Polo argali sheep — Schubarth procured cloned embryos of the animal from a lab, according to court documents.”

⇒ it doesn’t even look as if he did any cloning himself.

I really think there's a lot more to this story than has been made public. I think they're jacking an old man because they can. he made some public posts that were black mail worthy about how fond he was of his sheep and they've used those to force plea bargain.
