Home Depot software devs to spend 1 day per quarter working in a retail store

I have to use Vivaldi. App is buggy too. And yes, please add tap to pay. Walmart and Home Depot are the 2 places I have to bring my cards to.
- gregjor 8 months agoI had to do this at a couple of logistics companies. I even got certified to drive a fork lift while doing “cross training” at a warehouse. The warehouse worker who sat in my programmer cubicle for two weeks did not learn how to program.
I see a lot of value in programmers learning how their code gets used by eating their dog food alongside actual users. When I started my career in the late ‘70s programming didn’t usually exist as a separate business activity. It got embedded in business units — accounting, logistics, marketing, etc. I think that worked out better for everyone a lot of the time.
- theGnuMe 8 months agoPlease add tap to pay and in person checkout via the homedepot app.
Also the homedepot ios app is supper buggy and the search function is terrible.
- eurleif 8 months agoHome Depot did recently begin supporting tap to pay: https://appleosophy.com/2024/09/28/confirmed-home-depot-has-... I can confirm that it's enabled at my local store.
Note that their card terminals have supported it all along. They had it purposely disabled for economic reasons.
