Meta plans globe-spanning sub-sea internet cable

How does this affect maintenance? Is it still possible to pull portions of this cable up to repair it? What happens when it is at end of life? Does it get removed?

Good question. I recon it just stays on the sea floor, if it's less profitable to remove and sell. Although they might probably pull just those sections in shallow waters and then leave the rest on the sea floor.
