All of this needs context. The software which flashes your Christmas tree lights does not need to be written in Rust. There is a scope in which these arguments are valid, but not universally.

You can't defend against yourself when C++ it's brain-damaged. Go is what C++ should have been. And Rust can be a better C++ than C++ itself.

Stroustrup is getting more and more... dunno. Defensive? Delusional?

C++ was never a great language. It has a lot of good features, and an awfully lot of warts. Still, it was the best we had. It had it well deserved run, and it is still very relevant (my primary language also), but instead of bolting more crap on it, it is time to plan its retirement. Or come up with something that's actually better, and call it c+++ or whatever. But c++ should be let rest in peace.

In a way I am glad that C++ has become such an unholy mess, as it means there will probably always be employment available for those of us whose careers have grown along with it, but I really don't want to spend the rest of my career pigeonholed into legacy maintenance work. I am glad to work for a company which uses both C++ and Rust, so I have opportunities to develop experience with the latter.
