Figma says we can't use the word "dev mode" in lovable

Crazy how they managed to ruin all the sympathy and appreciation I had for that company.
- duxup 2 months agoHow do people respond to these things when it seems like Figma's lawyer here just sees a string they think they own... doesn't seem like they did much thinking already?
- JohnFen 2 months agoI'd double-check that their claim doesn't apply to my usage and if I'm confident about that, I'd reply saying so and just carry on. There's no need to do more unless Figma (in this case) decides to press the issue.

- philipwhiuk 2 months agoThe mistake here is taking the trademark which includes the font and claiming that gives you ownership of any usage of the words themselves.
- leshokunin 2 months agoAbsolutely insane take. Hope they fire the lawyer.
- philipwhiuk 2 months agoProbably related - Figma files for IPO: https://www.reuters.com/markets/deals/figma-confidentially-f...
- theGeatZhopa 2 months agoIs that real and live comedy? Dev mode is registered by figma? What what what what??
... Barbara, o' where are 'thou effects you streisand when the world is pushed apart
... by the negats and the stupids, go and sand 'em, make it hard.
- barnabee 2 months agoIt gets sillier. They've applied for config and schema too… https://uspto.report/company/Figma-Inc#trademarks
Applying for and/or attempting to enforce trademarks in such bad faith as this ought to result in an automatic fine.
