Valkey to Replace Redis in the Arch Linux [extra] Repository

Quick summary: You have 14 days to get Redis from somewhere else, or start using Valkey instead. Redis will move to AUR, but it also won't receive any new updates after that, so deprecated fully.

Seems strange that this move happened more than a year after the license change, and then only gives 14 days to move. Guess they're placing their bets on that Valkey is a 100% drop-in alternative.

Modulo having to apply my local changes to the config file, it has been seamless for me on Arch.

I wonder why redis won't be updated in AUR. There are plenty of AUR packages for closed source software, like Discord or Steam. A not-quite-open-source license like redid uses doesn't seem problematic by comparison.

Or will a second AUR be added for relicensed redis, so people can easily pick which one they want?

The messaging is a bit unclear. Someone will probably update `redis` in the AUR, but the intention is to communicate that if you have `redis` installed from `[extra]` you wont see any updates.
