Tesla has said its robotaxis will be Model Y vehicles equipped with a forthcoming version of FSD, or full self-driving, known as FSD Unsupervised. There won’t be a human safety driver in the cars, Musk promised.

Musk has previously claimed Tesla’s “generalized” approach to robotaxis is more ambitious than Waymo’s. Tesla relies on camera-based systems and computer vision primarily instead of using sophisticated sensors including lidar and radar in its vehicles.

If you live in Austin, watch out.

Instead, they will be supervised remotely.

Uber barely makes any money without owning the vehicles or assuming liability for their operation.

Tesla's plan is to own and insure the vehicles, pay employees to remotely monitor them, compete with Uber on cost and make tons of money as a result.

Sorry, color me skeptical. I'll have to see it done to believe it. Actually adding income to the bottom line will take years if ever.
