Trump Administration Targets Brazilian Judge for 'Censorship'

Mr. Bolsonaro has been one of Mr. Trump’s closest allies among current or former world leaders, and he has publicly called on Mr. Trump to help rescue him from what he says is political persecution.
This would seem the most likely reason the judge is being targeted.
- matheusmoreira 3 days agoCould be. In this country, these judges are responsible for the same "lawfare" that Trump talks about. I think there's another possibility though: Trump is apparently quite closely allied with big tech CEOs, especially Elon Musk.
Musk had a very public twitter fight with this judge. At some point he fined hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars out of X's bank accounts for failure to censor political twitter accounts for political "fake news" and whatnot, despite the fact that in Brazil censorship is unconstitutional, especially that of a political nature. This could be retaliation for the fines and/or the censorship.
- duxup 3 days agoIt’s more than a little disturbing how much policy and behavior out of the Trump administration seems to come from social media spats.
- matheusmoreira 11 hours agoI just saw news saying brazilian supreme court is discussing whether to block american social media platforms in retaliation to the materialization of these proposed sanctions.
I'd take Trump over this judiciary dictatorship any day.
